The Amaretto Stone Sour cocktail is a drink built with Amaretto liqueur, orange juice, and sweet & sour mix.
Amaretto Stone Sour Cocktail Info
This simple cocktail is a close cousin to the Amaretto Sour, and not too far from a Harvey Wallbanger. It combines the almond-flavored Liquor (hence its name) with sweet orange juice and tart sweet & sour mix.
The drink reached its peak popularity in the 1970s along with its more well-known cousin, but a predecessor, a gin-based Stone Sour, appeared in Tom Bullock's 1917 book "The Ideal Bartender." The idea for the Amaretto Stone Sour most likely came from Bullock's recipe.
Instead of buying ready-made sour mixtures, you can make your own. This is a simple way to improve the drink, and it's very easy.
