The Love And Murder cocktail is a slightly weird drink built with Campari, green chartreuse, lime juice, sugar syrup, and saline solution!
Love And Murder Cocktail Info
This cocktail was created by Nick Bennett and served at Porchlight, New York City. The backbone of this cocktail is Green Chartreuse and Campari. It's surprisingly balanced and delicious, and if you don't mind the fact that they are mixed together in one shaker. This cocktail is a sour-format cocktail that, once you get past the surprise, isn't much different from a standard sour-format cocktail. The chartreuse's 55% ABV compensates for Campari's lower ABV very well. It is roughly the same proof as a Daiquiri or a Whiskey Sour at the end of the day.
Bennett says, "What I wanted was an iconic cocktail." "The combination Campari and green Chartreuse was something I hadn't seen enough of and (surprisingly) never used as the main ingredients."
Once you see past the unusual combination of flavors, the recipe is easy to follow. The final secret is the addition of saline. Salt can be added to cocktails to balance a drink, precisely what it does here.
