JUMP TO RECIPE

The Miami Vice cocktail is a drink built with white rum, lime juice, sugar syrup, strawberries, pineapple juice, and cream of coconut.

Miami Vice Cocktail Info

Crockett & Tubbs weren't the ones who inspired the Miami Vice cocktail; many may think that. The tropical drink, which is part Strawberry Daiquiri and part Pina Colada, was created in a glass that's a little larger is older than the popular 1980s TV drama. However, the cocktail still brings Miami vibes; the name even tells you what's up!

The Miami Vice was first created in nightclubs but has been popular in bars and beach bars since its debut. Even though the sweet, frozen drinks boom of the 1980s is over, the popularity of tropical drinks continues to rise on beaches and resorts. They're delicious reminders that vacation is here.

Two cocktails are required to make the Miami Vice. The Strawberry Daiquiri is the first one. This drink requires rum, simple syrup, lime juice, and fresh strawberries. Blend all ingredients with crushed ice until smooth. Next up is the Pina Colada. This is made with rum, pineapple juice, and cream of coconut. This is then mixed with crushed ice and blended until smooth.

Combine the two drinks you now have in any order, and you will have the Miami Vice cocktail. However, the traditional presentation has red at the bottom with white at the top. So pour the Strawberry Daiquiri first and then the Pina Colada. The layered effect creates a nice visual drink. You'll only taste Daiquiri if you drink from the bottom. If you sip from the top, you get the sweet coconut. There is no right or wrong answer; drink it however you like.

You may be tempted to use ready-made mix in your blender. It would help if you resisted the temptation. Your Miami Vice will be a huge hit if you stick to fresh fruit, freshly squeezed juice, and good rum.
